Christmas Break Schedule
Christmas Break Practice Schedule, 2010/2011
Parents & Swimmers:
Christmas break is here! This is the MOST important training time of the year. This is where the guys push the hardest and get in shape for the remainder of the year. These two weeks can make or break a swimmer’s season, and we want to give the team the best possible chance for success!
With the size of our team, it is impossible to effectively train in a 6 lane pool. Since we will be at multiple locations (Calvin and Ottawa Hills) over the two weeks of Christmas break, we divided the team into different practice times so that all 34 guys are not in the water at the same time. The Sprint group will be doing some weight lifting at GRCHS.
Each week (12/20-24 and 12/27-31) will consist of 5 practices, Monday through Friday, for a total of 10 practices. We have had issues with the start time in the past. Over the break, the time that it says the practice starts means that is the time that athletes need to jump into the water. So, if your practice starts at 11am, you will want to allow some time to change and get on deck. If you aren’t jumping in the water at 11am, you are late.
All these practices are also posted on the Team Calendar.
Here is the schedule for 12/20-24:
Monday/Wednesday (Calvin)
A + B: 3pm to 6pm
Sprint: 1:20pm to 2:30pm (weight room), 3pm to 5pm (pool)

Parents: New 2 You Sign-Up
Parents:
Our swim team has a wonderful opportunity to raise money for expenses by working at the New 2 You Shoppe. We have committed to working on Friday nights in January. We need three adult volunteers each Friday night, and one of them must be male. The volunteers will work from 4:00-7:30pm. In return for our efforts we are guaranteed $100 per night or 50% of the proceeds for that evening. This generally exceeds the $100 mark.
This is a great way to show your support for our swim team and help raise money at the same time. Please consider volunteering. You can sign up by leaving a comment below (click here) or email the webmaster (webmaster@eaglesaquatics.com) with your contact information and the date on which you'd like to volunteer. The webmaster will then add your name to the schedule below. If you have any questions, please contact Beth VanPortfliet by email at djvanportfliet@comcast.net.

Dessert Social Sun-28-Nov
Our first social event will be to welcome all new swimmers and divers to the Grand Rapids Christian boys swim and dive team! We are planning a dessert social on Sunday evening, November 28th, from 6-8pm. This event will include coaches, athletes, and their parents and siblings. The Pruis' have graciously agreed to open their home for this event. We wanted to do this early in the season so we could all get to know each other before the swim meets begin. Go Eagles!!!
The Pruis' address is 1211 Old Lake Ct., Grand Rapids, MI 49545. Please do not park in the circular drive at the Pruis' as we will need this area to exit when we leave. Here's a map.
Dessert and beverages will be provided, and parents don't need to bring a thing. We are looking forward to meeting the new members and hope all will be able to attend. A flyer will also come home with the boys from practice on Monday, the 22nd. Some of the new families have not signed up on the website yet so please help spread the word.
Looking forward to seeing all of you!!!

How to Print Documents
Some folks have had trouble printing top times lists and other documents on our website. Here's the trick: Once you click on the link to the document, you'll see a Google docs page that shows the document. To print it, DON'T use your web browser's print function. Instead, use the File/Print option beneath the Google docs logo. Please let the webmaster know if you cannot open a document or if you're still having trouble printing it.

Cheer on the Girls Swim Team!
Tuesday, October 5 at 6:30pm is the last home meet for the Lady Eagles Swim and Dive Team at Calvin College! Coach Becky and the girls are looking for some support and help in the stand/pool deck. We are asking all available guy swimmers and divers to attend the meet to help time and cheer. It will be a close meet between the Eagles and Northview, one that was lost by 10 points last year. It is also senior night and it would be great to have fellow athletes and friends in the stands. Hope to see lots of you there!
